How does it work?

The 33 local authority Leaders (pdf, 37kb) meet on a quarterly basis as a decision making body. The Chair is Cllr Ken Taylor (Coventry) with three Vice Chairs, Cllr Roger Phillips (Herefordshire), Cllr Mike Whitby (Birmingham) and Cllr Craig Humphrey (Rugby).

Work is underway to develop a small number of Policy Reference Groups to provide advice to Leaders on specific priority areas.

A Members Panel has also been established which will act as a mechanism to formally engage the main political groupings within the Region and meets quarterly. Its role is to provide advice to Leaders Board in relation to
- Appropriate member structures to support the delivery of its aspirations
- Suggested nomination mechanism for any member structure agreed by WMLB
- Relevant concerns from Members within the Region.

The Shadow Joint Strategy and Investment Board (JS&IB) meets bi-monthly to make strategic decisions on behalf of the Region and manage the development, delivery and performance management of the proposed single integrated regional strategy (SIRS) and associated activities.

It is made up of six local authority Leaders and up to six representatives from Advantage West Midlands' Board.
